aka the vampire who likes to paint and once took care of the Queen of the Damned.
Lestat is too destructive and reckless to me. i do like his courage and quick wits but how he makes use of his vampiric powers to the peril of human beings and his own enjoyment makes me sick. i prefer the more 'humane' approach of Marius. plus, he's such a scholar :)
the 1st Anne Rice book i read was 'The Vampire Lestat'(the sequel to 'Interview'), in which Marius made his 1st appearance. the 2nd one was 'Pandora', from which i helplessly fell in love with him ;)
i like Louis too (oh well..probably Lestat is my least favourite vampire..), but he's too meek and never found for himself a purpose of living as a vampire (it's what he never found even as a human, anyway).
'Queen of the Damned' i read after 'The Vampire Armand'. the novel itself was spellbounding but the movie was horrible.
i'm now at her recently published 'Blood and Fire', which is an account (finally) of Marius' life. but i'd say Anne Rice has been dipping in standards since 'Queen of the Damned'..
