KUALA LUMPUR - Malaysian prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin on Monday night (March 16) announced a lockdown in the country from Wednesday to March 31 to contain the coronavirus outbreak.
Save for essential services, schools and businesses will be closed, he said.
Tourists are not allowed to enter the country, while Malaysians are banned from travelling overseas .
He said there will be a total ban on public gatherings and movements nationwide. This includes religious, sports, social and cultural activities.
