"I love you" is something not-often said in japan. The proper, literal translation would yeild 愛してる (ai shiteru)... But not many people say that. What most people say is 大好き (daisuki), which means "i really like you", or 君が好き (kimi ga suki desu(?)) meaning "i like you".
