由于为配合2006年华族文化节而主办的第2届碧山杯新加坡中区象棋个人赛于2006年2月19日与26日在碧山民众俱乐部活动室1与2得以园满的举行(with 56 players including 7 with grades)，
主办当局考虑把这项活动于来届升级为全国性，以便全国各地的无级棋手及受邀棋会的会员参加。
So, 第3届碧山杯全国象棋个人赛 was decided around that time (Mar 2006).
After my Yunnan tour (5 to 15 Apr 2006), I attended a dinner on 16 Apr 2006 after [北斗 vs 加基武吉] 友谊赛 held in the same afternoon, during the dinner, I saw Mr 谭铭憲 having a few publications including the publication for 1st Inter-Constituency Chinese Chess Championships 1973. I borrowed it to read in details.
After knowing the whole event held over more than one month (definitely not workable nowadays), I wish to propose a new method if possible when we have a chance to organize a competition with such nature, i.e. Inter-Constituency.
The stopping of 6-player 团体联赛 since 2004 and 4-player 狮城杯 just for 2004 and 2005 only give us a more bigger issue to think about (in 2006), although 4-player 李美花杯象棋团体赛 since 2007 and the recent Mind Sport 4-player Xiangqi have filled up the gaps somehow…….
I also learn about the system used by the Xiangqi World Cup ….
After the decision to stop 碧山杯小学象棋团体赛 in early July 2007, in our proposal for 第1届碧山杯全国选区象棋团体赛, we plan to have up to 6 players per team initially (with up to 3 graded players). Later due to a much lower budget, we have decided to have team of 4 players without grade so that we are able to use the same system as xiangqi world cup, the rest of the development are histories ……..
Last but not least, I heard from Mr 林耀森 that nowadays, graded players are looking for more competitions but not so much on the prizes too (i.e. same as the non-graded players), with this in mind, it may be easier for the organizers to have more competitions with graded players. :)
