Chinese New Year Evening Salon- Travelling As An Alternative Education
(旅游-别样生活)
Organized by AGORA
Topic:
Must Education be institutionalized? How can we have an Education of life, through life and for life? How can we learn to travel? How can we travel to learn? What makes an educated person? Can morality be taught? How much control do we have over our happiness? Through his travel experiences, he will share some perspectives on these questions
Distinguished Speaker: Mr. Cheng Chin Yuen
Chin Yuen quit his lucrative teaching job in 2005 to fulfill his dream of travelling the world. He soon found out that the world was much too BIG to explore, and so, decided to concentrate his explorations to what was deemed as the 'Third World', with the exception of a few countries. Wandering around the poorer countires, Chin Yuen gained comparative and alternative insights to the 'Singaporean lifestyle'. It seems that we have much to learn from these countries that we can tweak and then apply to the more 'advanced' societies in the world. Chin Yuen gives Travel Talks whenever he's back in Singapore as a way of contributing to society.
