Desitin Creamy is more suitable for daily preventive use (easier to apply, smells better) whereas Desitin Original is more for emergencies such as for treatment of diaper rash.
Desitin Original contains 40% zinc oxide, the active ingredient, while Desitin Creamy contains only 10%.
