Can I return as a Singapore Permanent Resident (SPR) after the expiry of REP?
No. A SPR will lose his/her SPR status if he/she leaves/remains outside Singapore without a valid REP. On his/her return to Singapore, he/she may be granted immigration facilities accorded to an ordinary social visitor. He/she can report to the Permanent Resident Services Centre, 5th Storey, ICA Building to apply for reinstatement of the SPR status. If approved, a fee of S$50 has to be paid for reinstatement of the SPR status. If you plan to leave Singapore, please ensure that your REP is valid on your return.
How do I renew my REP while I am overseas?
You may apply to renew your REP while you are overseas at the nearest Singapore Overseas Mission through your local representative or by post to Immigration & Checkpoints Authority. Applications by post must include the name, IC number and address of the local representative making the payment. Other than the required documents, please also provide:
the latest REP number issued;
the date of expiry; and
reasons for extension.
All successful applicants must return to Singapore to collect their REPs.
