除掉给父母申请LTVP的区别外，另一区别就是独立申请公民时所需时限要求不同ICA的标准是：Independent PR是两年，Dependent PR是四年。换言之，如果一对PR和DPR夫妇，如果只是DPR自己独自申请公民，他（她）需要等成为DPR四年之后才有可能被批准。而如果是夫妻俩一起申请的话，只需要PR之后两年就可以，因为这时PR附带DPR一起申请，所以只参考PR的年限。
