heard that marauder not able to attend too due to conducting xiangqi course during the same time at SIXGA ......, I try to provide some past information which were provided to SIXGA previously, 棋一生, 卷心菜, 一刀n断 and 几度 may wish to include these if useful when discuss with Secretary General of SIXGA regarding the future design of 象总网页. Sorry for not able to attend the discussion due to other prior appointment.
If we can get it up by Oct 2008 (in time for 第15届亚洲象棋锦标赛), then the 10 years cover Oct 1998 to Sep 2008, otherwise we may aim for Oct 1999 to Sep 2009 before SIXGA’s 75th Anniversary Celebration.

this is on the way for me to work on the other two 2008 New Year wishes and hand over properly before leaving Bishan ...

I hope to move from the front (as chairman) to the back (as one of the EXCO members if my service is needed) within the next one and an half years before moving out of Bishan.
-- the current Bishan EXCO wishes to contribute to Singapore Xiangqi and help to compile the Singapore Xiangqi 10-year records if there are positive development over the next one month in this matter, otherwise we will drop this matter from our list.

Nee Soon South C.C. has invited the 8 teams to attend a 联谊座谈会 .....
As mentioned previously, SIXGA publications for 40th, 50th and 60th Anniversaries had quite a good records of past activities. The missing parts could be from the 60th Anniversary Celebration till todate.
Personally, I suggest to divide the major work into three smaller tasks :
A) 4 years records from the 60th Anniversary Celebration till Oct 1998 including The Singapore Open 早报杯 1998. (someones to work on it)
B) 10 years records from Nov 1998 to mid Oct 2008 as a present for all Asian Countries coming to attend

C) one year record from mid Oct 2008 till SIXGA 75th Anniversary Celebration at end 2009 (someones to work on it)
D) someones to work on the combination of Parts (A), (B) and (C) to have a 15-Year records or even to include all the previous anniversary publications to become a 75-Year records.
I am willing to join the team to work on Part (B).

At SIXGA Thank You Lunch on 30 Dec 2007, 象总林关浩会长 mentioned to continue with the 棋会联系会议 in 2008.
In 24 July 2007 第二次象棋棋会联系会议, I mentioned that we had total of at least 15 areas highlighted from the following three gatherings :
27 July 2006 第一次象棋棋会联系会议 -- 3 points
8 Oct 2006 甘榜格南“象棋座谈会” -- 7 points
7 Jan 2007 碧山象棋会主催棋会代表圆桌讨论会 -- 5 points
The subsequent 象棋棋会联系会议 if any should monitor the progress and/or development in these 15 areas to ensure we have fruitful meetings in future.
at 2006甘榜格南“象棋座谈会”,
other than "洪泉发(碧山) 渴望诸如商业杯赛，选区赛等的主办，他建议象总可串演中介的角色，与各棋会妥协【协调】，使到棋赛赛程更能均匀地分配，全年中几乎每个月都有赛项，就不会出现有多项赛事集中在某几个月，而其他月份则空档着；杨平德试问象总是否有考虑过要开办裁判班？"
I also mentioned that in the long run, SIXGA should target at the about 100 C.C. all over Singapore for the Singapore Xiangqi Development, e.g. to help 2 C.C.s to form xiangqi team each year so that in 5 years time, we will have 10 more C.C.s having xiangqi teams.
The Bishan Cup 选区团体赛 is to help to inject this thinking into the players so that more and more will help their own C.C.s (at where they stay) to form xiangqi teams or clubs in future.

not easy to get good writers and also with good memories to 介绍 those events over 15 years and to write articles as 张辽2004狮城杯大作.
As mentioned, we need more people to come forward on their own ....

每年个人赛的前几名,有级棋士总列表(截至2007年),俱乐部介绍,主要棋赛介绍
当然团体赛和狮城杯是最重分量,要着重介绍.
张辽已经写过一篇2004狮城杯大作,曾经在黑龙江棋艺杂志上发表,可以参考.

For the compilation of the records, extra efforts from various xiangqi clubs and xiangqi individuals are required, to make sure all are moving towards the same direction, I plan to suggest at least to cover :
Records of Singapore Xiangqi Activities over 1995 to 2009 or early (the main task)
In addition, if we have enough articles or related information from the various xiangqi clubs, then we could also include :
Records of Singapore Xiangqi Clubs over 1995 to 2009, or early (the minor task)
We should not aim for too much other information otherwise the task will become too big and not able to handle in time.
We will need to consider : number of pages, number of copies, fund allocated, resources available and number of members in the editorial board etc.
May be all 悟入棋途网友 could post your views etc here for consolidation, volunteers to join the editorial board are most welcome !!!
To ensure a good job, I also wish to suggest not to rush for Oct 2008 Asian Xiangqi Games in Singapore but to aim for end 2009 SIXGA 75th Anniversary, if the records could be compiled before Oct 2008 in times for Asian Xiangqi Federation 30th Anniversary Celebration in Singapore, it will be considered as unexpected present from Singapore.

Xiangqi Clubs in Singapore ......
A friend passed a xiangqi records book to me last night(shown below). This is a compilation of 1974 China Individuals at Chengdu by Macpherson Community Centre Xiangqi Research Club. Just from this we could derive that Singapore Xiangqi was very active in 1970s as just a C.C. xiangqi club could compile such information at that time. If you have a chance to read the SIXGA's books for 40th, 50th and 60th Anniversary Celebrations in 1974,1984 and 1994, you will have much more information regarding Singapore Xiangqi before 1994. At this point, I feel very disappointed that when I started to pay attention to Singapore Xiangqi at end 1998, I could not know much about the activity level, e.g. what are the xiangqi activities in the coming 12 months? what were the activities in the pass three years ? When 白贵忠先生 and 毛瑞发先生 (设计象总会徽)离开人间 in 2005 and 2006 respectively (if I could recall, the passed away of 白贵忠先生 in Mar 2005 was highlighted in 2005 SIXGA's Newsletter No. 9 but I did not read about 设计象总会徽 的 毛瑞发先生 passed away in Jun 2006 in the Newsletter No. 10 published in Oct 2006 or in any other way to inform SIXGA's members), we are going to lost more and more xiangqi information over times if we do not start to do something to capture Singapore Xiangqi Information, say since 1994. May be we should think about to compile Xiangqi Activities and Clubs in Singapore since, say 1994 as 10 years 团体联赛 started in 1995, last two seasons were at 2003年(9th season)武吉甘柏与2004年(10th season)裕华, if we could have such information by Nov 2008, then this could be a record to show to all Asian countries about Singapore Xiangqi Activities and Clubs in the past, say 15 years. To do a good job, at least all the past and present Secretary Generals of SIXGA since 1994 and some other important committee members should treat this as their responsibilities to keep records for Singapore Xiangqi in their capacities in (our National level organisation) SIXGA's EXCO, either past or present.
