the normal working methods in the offices/companies could not be applied here for volunteers.
For volunteers, we pay more attention to whether we could work as an happy team, we could not aim for 100 % results.
80-20 rules should be good enough, e.g. if you can spend 20% effort to get 80% members to join some activities, the remaining 80% effort should be spent in new areas instead of trying to get the other 20% members to join. We discussed this issue in the Bishan 4th EXCO 1st meeting held on 12 July 2008 and all members agreed that this should be the right approach, this is also one of the reasons that I do not really care about the negative views here in this forum as I am only work to serve the members and EXCO members of Bishan Xiangqi club and they will give EXCO members and me with direct feedback, I may list some examples later if time permits.
This is also one of the reasons that I did not take up the EXCO appointment in SIXGA EXCO in 2002 when elected as I could not affort to serve so many SIXGA members as compared to 50+ bishan members.
This is also one of the reasons that I respect whoever is taking charge of SIXGA as more effort are required and expected from them.
水棋 may still not happy with my reasons but I think I have spent more than enough times to discuss this matter and I have no plan to move up (to SIXGA EXCO) but instead I am planning to move down or out with a plan acceptable to Bishan EXCO members.
