30 April 2018 - Corporal First Class (CFC) Lee Han Xuan Dave, 19, a Guardsman from the 1st Battalion Singapore Guards, was found to display signs of heat injury at about 0835hrs on 18 Apr 2018 after he had just completed an 8km fast march at Bedok Camp. Lee was evacuated to the camp's medical centre and subsequently transferred to Changi General Hospital, where he was warded in the Intensive Care Unit. Lee's condition worsened during the hospitalisation and he was pronounced dead at 1732hrs on 30 Apr 2018.[13] The Singapore Police Force will be charging an officer in criminal court for causing CFC Dave's death by a rash act, under Section 304A(a) of the Penal Code, and referred six other SAF servicemen to MINDEF for investigations for potential breaches of military law. [14][15]
13 May 2018 - Corporal (CPL) Kok Yuen Chin, a Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) Full-Time National Serviceman from Tuas View Fire Station, was found unconscious at the bottom of the fire station’s pump well. CPL Kok had been celebrating his impending ORD with his squad mates, and one of the activities involved throwing him into the pump well. CPL Kok did not resurface. CPL Kok was eventually pulled out from the well after the water had been drained. CPL Kok was then conveyed by ambulance to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital. CPL Kok was pronounced dead at the hospital.[16][17] An SCDF officer was jailed for causing CPL Kok's death by instigating the ORD ritual and for abetting the obstruction of justice by asking for footage of the incident to be deleted from a colleague's phone. Four other officers have also been charged over CPL Kok's death.[1]
3 November 2018 - PTE Liu Kai, 22, a transport operator from the SAF’s Transport Hub West, was killed when a Bionix vehicle reversed into his Land Rover during a training exercise at Jalan Murai. Following the incident, it was reported that the army declared an army-wide safety timeout on training to ensure that all appropriate safety measures were in place. It was also reported that PTE Liu Kai would be posthumously accorded with the rank of Corporal First Class (CFC) [18]
