At the end of the day, likely I will do the counting on 31 Jan 2008 morning and we may decide on :


(A) if the number is 40 or more, we may just stop the registration and proceed with the detailed planning.

(B) if the number is less than 40 but not too far out (say 20, 30), we may extend the registration but limit to 40 players.

(C) if the number is too far below 40 (say 10), we may just to cancel this activity.

Yesterday Boon Lay players reserved a team under Hong Kah ......

and 张顺喜's team registered this afternoon.

刘忆豪's school may send another 5 players.

With all these, we should have around 40 now .....

we have decided to close the registration except those who have placed the reservation with me to be cleared within this week.

Previously, we plan to have up to 9 individual prizes for 40 players, now we plan to have 5 more prizes for individuals if possible.

Regarding the team event, will revert later.

you may notice that we even wanted to close the registration for 2008 Bishan Cup on 27 Feb 2008 and the prize giving to be held on 25 Jun 2008 during Bishan Xiangqi Club 6th Anniversary Celebration due to the uncertainty of the number of trophies.

Now the registration is closed and we confirm to have the prize giving after Round 9 on 2 Mar 2008 from 9 PM.

Regarding the special prizes for 会员奖2名, 分区奖2名 and 分龄奖2名, we are looking into the allocation method proposed for 2006 Bishan Cup (Central Singapore). In general, we may allocate one prize for every 5 players of each group but up to 2 prizes per group. The Top 8 may or may not counted in the allocation.

We will release the details, latest before the start of Round 1 on 1 Mar 2008.

By the way, I have asked the supplies to work out the cost of up to 24 to 26 trophies including the tokens for up to 2 teams now.

May be the same trophy designs for 2007 Bishan Internal Competition (prize giving on 13 Feb 2008 during Bishan Xiangqi Club CNY Gathering) will be used again in 2008 Bishan Cup.

In addition to the Top 8 individual prizes (we propose to add 5 more prizes instead of the current 3 prizes), we are using 2006 Central Singapore Bishan Cup as reference to work out the allocation for these special prizes.

As Bishan East Constituency Sports Club (CSC) has agreed to contribute to support the coming event, it is logical that we allocate 分区奖2名 as below if none of the players under these two groups has any prizes :

(1) players staying within the boundaries of Bishan East Division (分区奖1名)

(2) players staying within the boundaries of Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC or lady players (分区奖1名)

As for the 分龄奖2名, we will allocate them as below if none of the players under these two groups has any prizes :

(3) players with age less than 15 as of 1 Mar 2008 (分龄奖1名)

(4) players with age 50 or above as of 1 Mar 2008 (分龄奖1名)

(5) & (6) -- As for 会员奖2名, it is very clear and without any doubt.

Since In general on the average about 1 prize for every 4 players, we will set the limit of at least 5 players per group to qualify for any of the 6 special prizes.

Regarding the 4 teams under 选区象棋团体赛, we are not going to have any official prizes as the number of teams registered is less than 10. After checking their residential boundaries are ok, i.e. within the division registered, we may allocate a few trophies/plaques to those members in the Top two ranking teams but not getting any prizes as individuals.

We welcome the feedback from all 56 players, say by 13 Feb 2008 before the confirmation of the prizes allocation method.
