Bishan Xiangqi Club is formed on 27 Jun 2002 under Bishan CCMC.

Bishan East is the administrative name of the division, the C.C. servicing the area is Bishan Community Club, the management body is Bishan CCMC (Bishan C.C. Management Committee), Bishan Xiangqi Club is under Bishan CCMC.

The residents of Bishan East division is also served by 6 Residents Committees(RC) , each RC servicing the residents stay in about 15 to 20 HDB blocks. In the past few years, the RC having more residents playing xiangqi is Bishan East RC Zone 5 located at Block 145. All RCs service only residents stay in the blocks within the RC boundary, e.g. RC Zone 5 boundary is Blocks 135 to 152.

The officials from Bishan Xiangqi Club may work with the various RCs within Bishan East in future so that more teams could be formed for 全国选区象棋团体赛. The only team formed for Chinese Cultural Festival 2008 3rd Bishan Cup and 全国选区象棋团体赛 was arranged by Bishan Xiangqi Club for the Bishan East residents and paid by Bishan C.C.

In the next EXCO meeting of Bishan Xiangqi Club in end Apr 2008, the existing officials below will discuss and suggest improvements if any to the next EXCO to be formed by 1 July 2008 so that the xiangqi club can service the members and residents better in the long run.

全国社区象棋团体赛 could be considered in future as Singapore 选区 are grouped under 5 CDCs, it may be much easier to form xiangqi team within CDC boundary as compared to 选区 boundary, we can allow, say up to 10 teams per CDC, with a total of up to 50 teams, the maximum. As in 2008, say a minimum of 10 teams to proceed.


(1) 全国选区象棋团体赛 -- have 社区 feeling but tried out in 2008 and failed.

(2) 全国象棋团体赛 by postal districts -- for postal purpose, do not have a strong feeling of 社区.

(3) 全国象棋团体赛 by xiangqi clubs -- 团体联赛 after 10 years (1995 to 2004), why stop ? must study the reasons.

the last one was held on 11 Sep 2005.

This event is scheduled once in three years, the next one could be organised in second half of 2008 .....

The xiangqi club will decide whether to have 擂台赛, same as 2005.

most of Singapore xiangqi lovers if not all miss the 团体联赛 (team of 6) after 2004 [2003 武吉甘柏 C.C. and 2004 裕华 C.C.] but luckily a few other {team of 4} events filled up the gaps in the past few years, e.g. 狮城杯(2004 甘榜格南C.C. [at唐城坊] and 2005 义顺南 C.C.), 2007 义顺南C.C. 李美花杯 and 2007 人协 义顺南 C.C. 活跃智能游戏节.

What are the reasons for not having 团体联赛 in the past four years ?

Is budget the main concern ?

Is duration too long ?

Is team size of 6 too big ?

Any other reasons ?
