Proposal 1 -- to introduce a new grading system
the existing grading system of 象棋大师, 甲级棋士 and 乙级棋士 was implemented 21 years ago in 1987.
Each year, only
获公开Ａ组冠军；或亚军/ 季军达三次者，颁予象棋大师称号。
获公开Ａ组第二至第八名者，颁予甲级棋士称号。
获公开Ｂ组前四名者，颁予乙级棋士称号。
If we have many players without grade evenly distributed over whole Singapore (with 84 administrative divisions now, e.g. Bishan East is one of the 84 divisions), with 4 players promoted to Grade B (乙级棋士) each year, we need to wait for 21 years before one no-grade resident within the division to be promoted.
Could this be one of the reasons that not many students choose xiangqi as CCA ?
Should we have more lower grades system to encourage more players to come forward ? at least to encourage the students from young.
