Chinese Chess will not have a future in Singapore IF...1) the games continued to be played by Only Chinese Male.
2) And the team with the most 甲级/乙级 players will usually win... So predictable.
The same type of games have been going on for years... nothing spectacular.
The organizer from Raffles must think of a way out.
1) E.g. Make it mandatory for each team to have at least one girl and one non-Chinese.
2) Introduce some excitement into the game, e.g. each team will have one trump card. They can use the trump card once in the tournament to exclude one particular player from the opponent team (can only use once during the 2 days' tournament).
3) I am still thinking....

Chinese Chess in Singapore?
The spectacular and glory days of Xiangqi in Singapore were long gone when generous and not greedy big money sponsors disappears from the scene. Look at the ever shrinking competition prizes and the almost disappearing marketing over the years and you will know why the glory days of having 200 to 300 players in national competitions are no long seen today.
Ladies and non Chinese? Most are not interested in the game, where to find the players.
Active male chinese players are no more than 50, how many ladies and non chinese would you expect?
This forum is not what it used to be when I joined 10 years ago. Today I Log in and see posts dominated by one person which most people have lost interests in reading, discouraging most from logging in at all anymore...
No offence intended to anyone -_-
