Department Description:
The SMP group (part of Server Technologies) provides
the direction and core technology used to manage Oracle's platform and
applications products. Oracle's flagship management product, Oracle
Enterprise Manager Grid Control, is the centerpiece of Oracle's
10G grid management solution and is critical to Oracle's success to enable
grid management to dramatically lower the cost of ownership (TCO) of
Oracle's product family. The management solution spans from monitoring
and administration type of capabilities, to more in-depth management
aspects such as, provisioning, configuration management, diagnostics
and root-cause analysis.
Detailed Description:
The System Management Technology Partnership team
plays a critical role in improving the System Management Product Suite's
market adoption, and towards making it an essential component for managing
the Oracle IT universe. The team accomplishes these goals in several
ways:
1. Work closely with Business Development to identify
companies to engage in partnerships
2. Architect and build integrations with a broad set
of management vendors, partners and customers
3. Identify ways to enhance the base product based on
feedback from the above efforts
The open position is for a software developer who will
primarily be responsible for designing and building integrations
and extensions to the System Management Framework -- such as, a
management plug-in for network devices, storage devices, packaged
applications and more. This is an unique opportunity for a college graduate, as it
provides exposure to a wide range of cutting-edge technologies, and
interactions with several key Oracle partner companies and start-ups in
the System Management space.
Skills Required:
1. Strong design and programming skills
2. Familiarity with web-technologies and n-tier
architecture is highly desired
3. Knowledge of Java, Perl, and C is required ; XML
and web services is preferred
4. Familiarity with one or more of the following is a
plus: .Net, SQL Server, MOM, HP OpenView, Tivoli
5. Strong analytical skills, ability to learn quickly,
good communication skills and enthusiastic to explore new
technologies

B.S./M.S. in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering,
strong design, development and problem solving skills, process
oriented, quick learner, good interpersonal skills, ability to translate
business requirements to technical requirements
