近日和老板聊天, 他说, MBA最有价值的就是finance方面. 和我想象的相差甚远,令我大为吃惊. 老板自己是哈佛MBA毕业的, 所以这么说应该蛮有原因的.

所以, 请问一下, 其他的human resource mgt, project mgt, strategy (marketing), as well as Network 都没这个finance重要么? 我对这个finance的理解是包括cooporate finance (IPO, security market), accouting (esp project finance plan like IRR, cash flow).

i think this is what my boss implied.

there are slightly different streams under MBA like marketing, mgt, finance, etc as students typically choose more modules in the area which they want to exposure. it's reasonabe to say "finance" skills will be more important to a MBA specialized in finance area than to one speicialized in other area.

interestingly, my boss did tell me that "network" is crucial in career development. Maybe i can assume he had had good network before his MBA. :P

but i agree network is very important.. time to build up some... :P
