to add on, u also need to make sure the definition of CF is the samei know some company call their finance department corporate finance and does payroll. for corp finance houses, we do IPO, M&A advisory, FA and IFA, valuation, right issues, bonds and warrants, convertible securities, placement, etc. So hope the internal CF is defined in the same manner. I agree with CFA that experience and exposure wise, a CF house is a much better place to start with.
