try changing the network cable

using starhub MaxOnline, 1 modem connect to 4 way out router. PLEASE helpI m using starhub MaxOnline, using 1 modem connected to a 4 port router. I m using a desktop and my friend s using a labtop. **************************************************************************** Situation: When i tried to connect my comp to ANY port of the router, it alwasy gave me access to internet. However when i connect my friend's labtop to t router : 1, it shows the local area connection is up 2, when i tried to ping global site like google.com, sina.com, 6park.com, it all works 3, I can see my own computer in the workgroup computers 4, Both computers were set to "auto allocate IP address" (Depends on which port of the router is used, my IP will be like .1 and the labtop will be like .2 or .3 or .4) ****************************************************************************** Problem: Using the labtop, i just couldn't access ANY website using IE. I cant log in to msn either.(no matter how i change t cable
try changing the network cable
and try try other browser

turn off firewall

change IE security settings

logon to windows using other account...


if you have a spare harddisk partition, install a new OS on that partition, just to ensure software side is all ok

tks, tried all, then find out it's the LAN setting part at IE,...but...but...but how does the LAN setting in IE also affect the msn messenger log in???? :S yu men
because they're all written by microsoft
