My understanding
If monthly income of wife+husband+kids < S$8000, you can apply for S$30000 housing grant.
If monthly income of wife+husband+kids < S$5000, you can apply for additional housing grant.
The limits of 8000 and 5000 are household income (sum of gross pay for all family members), not average income for each family member.
If wife works for 1 year and husband works for 3 months, household income = wife + husband.
If both wife and husband did not work for 1 year, you can apply for additional grant. But you can not take any loan because you have no income proof. So you must pay everything by grant + cpf+cash.
You must be married to get the housing grant as family scheme. Or you provide the proof that you are gonna marry sooooon.
If your wife earns 20k per month, do please seriously forget about the grant.
For more detailed and convincing explanation, pls approach an agent or write to/call HDB.
Of course I may be wrong. If so, please let me know...
