I. Daily Measurement of Temperature
The recently introduced daily measurement of temperature is a precaution against SARS. It is done in the interest of our residents. As a single infection can adversely affect the whole community, we have made this daily screening compulsory for everyone. This routine involves time and effort of all our resident staff and officers of OSA. However, the daily turn out at the screening stations has been poor, as many residents do not take this screening seriously and do not bother to turn up.
Residents are hereby reminded that this daily health screening is compulsory.
The following penalties will be imposed on non-compliance:
1. Failure to turn up for temperature measurement: Fine of $50 per day.
2. The fines for each day that the student is absent will be added up.
e.g. $200 if the student did not turn up for 4 days ($50 X 4).
3. Accumulated fines will have to be paid before check out at the end of semester.
Residents who intend to stay out overnight with friends and families are to notify the hostel office in advance. Disciplinary actions will be taken against students if they did not attend the day’s screening, did not notify the hostel office of outside stay, and are yet found in the hostels.
II. Visitors
1. Students are strictly not allowed to have visitors arriving from countries reported to have SARS. If in doubt, clarify at the hostel office in advance before the visitor is scheduled to arrive.
2. All other visitors from outside the hostels must make a declaration and have their temperature taken at the hostel office.
Non-compliance constitutes a serious disciplinary offence.
III. Pets in hostels
Pets such as white mice, kittens, guinea pigs etc…are strictly not allowed in the hostels. Please surrender these at the hostel office.

NUS没有理由对我们进行罚款：根据我们的根NUS的租房协议，没有提到什么情况会罚款，更没有说可以进行多少钱的罚款。
对此，我们有充分的理由拒绝罚款。 呵呵

You have not comply with the daily health screening of temperature today. In view of this, a fine of $50 is imposed on you and should be payable by Tue, 29 April 03.
If you fail to comply with this daily screening tomorrow I am force to evict you from the Hall, exams or no exams.
