maybe should consider some other ways~~~~i found American movies are more useful than BBC, or you can try DISCOVERY CHANNEL in NUSCAST.
visual and audio impact will give you deeper understanding, and easier for you to imitate.

war theme is a bit hard, involving those daily words but have totally different meaning in battle field~~~;
historical is mostly in old British English, like Brave Heart
kids movies are quite good, in terms of understanding, and humor
bear in mind:
the more you watched, the more good movies you will get and the more accents, and difficulties you will encounter~~~

repeat listening something网上是有很多的资源，除了NUSCAST, 像www.bbc.co.uk 还有 www.voanews.com 都有Radio和TV。
我觉得比较好的是在VOA下载一些新闻的片断和原文，多听几遍，比较原文，同时学一些生词。 另外还可以下载复读软件，像sitman(国内很多下载),可以复读听写等等。总之，我认为既要听得多，还要精听一些。当然最重要的是坚持。[Lorry (6-27 14:04, Long long ago)]
