2008 New Year Wishes …… Any from 悟入棋途网友 ?
2008 New Year Wish 1 ………. Competition Area = Exam Hall
Due to the happening during the Mind Sport Xiangqi Event, I wish to put down my first wish for Singapore Xiangqi in 2008 ……
Competition Area = Exam Hall
This is the reason for quite a number of players having negative feedback in this area as many of them do not treat the competition area as exam hall. Even a senior citizen player wanted to go into the competition area with the reason of reading the chess book quietly in there, and when I rejected the request, he told me that I am not flexible enough due to my previous civil servant background, so older players also having problem. (In fact, if I let the player to do reading in the competition area, then I have no right to challenge ”没头发洪泉发” of his remark of ” You sound very upright but just another two-faced hypocrite”.)
The actual problem could be : the control of the competition area was tighter this time. In fact, during 2005 Lion City Cup at Nee Soon South C.C., I gave the same treatment to those players from China, I only hope that we could improve in this area over times.
For 2008 Lee Bee Wah’s Cup to be held during Good Friday Period, i.e. 21 to 23 Mar 2008, Nee Soon South C.C. may introduce Yellow Card / Red Card system for the competition area. I hope more and more competitions will treat the competition area as exam hall starting 2008.
Although I have indicated that I will not help in 2008 Lee Bee Wah's Cup specific areas, but I hope that I could still contribute in charging the general directions for Singapore Xiangqi as long as I am still having the interests.

1。在新的一年中，大家都能在棋艺上更上一层楼！
2。有越来越多的棋友加入到新加坡棋坛，加入到悟入棋途论坛各抒己见。
3。能够有更多的比赛，更多的赞助商，更规范的比赛，更文明的棋手和棋友。
4。新加坡象棋官方网页能够彻底推成出新！
5。各棋队的建设取长补短，更上一层楼尤其要借鉴碧山和文礼俱乐部的成功经验。

My third 2008 New Year wish .......
When Bishan Xiangqi Club formed on 27 Jun 2002, I talked about 3 dreams, the third dream could be considered as materialised at end 2004, the first two dreams should be materialised in Oct 2008 as mentioned in Bishan Xiangqi Club Newsletter No. 28.
After the first term of 2 years (considered as NS for Bishan residents) as Chairman, I have informed our xiangqi club adviser several times that the club should have a new Chairman as I will be moving out of Bishan by 2009.
In my this No. 1,400 posting in 悟入棋途, I hope to move from the front (as chairman) to the back (as one of the EXCO members if my service is needed) within the next one and an half years before moving out of Bishan.
As mentioned previously, since I do not need to worry about 学业 and 事业 (as retiree), as long as 家庭 and 健康 are ok, 象棋 should be continued as my 兴趣与爱好。Furthermore, if times permit and I am still having interests, I will help the C.C. or R.C. at my new place to form a xiangqi team (mainly to save costs and times in travelling, and still contribute to Singapore Xiangqi).
By the way, when I look at the building design, I notice that the R.C. will be located at Level 26 with a connected running path to join all the 7 blocks at Level 26 and the sky garden at Level 50 to join all 7 blocks with more than 1,800 HDB units. How about to have xiangqi competition at Level 26 ?
This is the third and the last of my 2008 New Year Wishes.
The top priority in the next two months for me is on .....
