The selected individuals will be involved in a variety of tasks across the full life cycle of a global time series plant.

Develop and maintain operational scripts and processes
Infrastructure configuration
Perform software installation, upgrades and decommission
Monitor data content, quality and usage
Perform Level 2/3 support activities using Morgan Stanley¡¯s designated Help Desk tools, processes and procedures for recording a problem ticket, assigning a ticket, declaring a Severity Level, and closing a problem or request ticket
Respond to ad-hoc requests from business clients
Perform in-depth data analysis on the Market Data content
Be available out-of-hours in case of emergencies
Develop Level 1 operational procedures and training of Level 1 support team.
Perform preventative maintenance functions including monitoring of logs, alarms, system performance and capacity
Act as an escalation point for Level 1 support team escalating to development where appropriate
Production management including outage management, issue tracking and managing follow-up actions

Skills Required
Required Skills: The candidate will have a successful track record of deploying q/kdb applications into production and managing their operations and data content in the financial sector. This would include:
- Linux/Unix scripting ( shell, perl )
- Operational / IT Engineering background.
- IT/ Math / Engineering Degree
- Strongly desired content knowledge: Domain expertise in one or more data domains (e.g. equities, fixed income,commodities, structured products, derivatives, etc.), especially with high frequency data sets (e.g. equity tick data).
Soft skills needed :
- Self starter, able to work independently but not afraid to ask questions.
- Good communicator, able to work across different use groups: operations, development, infrastructure, applications development, and business users.
- Able to deliver tactical results quickly as part of a strategic design that allows longer-term flexibility and scalability
- Good problem solving skills
-Working familiarity with SQL and an RDBMS (SQL Server, Oracle, DB2 preferred)

Skills Desired
In addition to the required skills, the following technical skills would enhance a candidate¡¯s initial productivity in the role:

-Experience writing extensions to the Tick architecture (e.g., security enhancements, statistical or financial calculation libraries, framework for real-time calculations)
-Experience in C, C++ ,C#, Java application development
-Experience with functional programming

This is a pure IT support role, don't know why they ask for financial knowledge and development skills. Anyway these days IT job requirements are mostly Junk, you can just get in by Bluffing. And most Indians are very good at it.
