Handy Software for Linux Users

Here I try to compile a list of software that might help both newcomers and advanced Linux users. Please follow up for ANY piece of software from which you benefited in past. Also, news of new software that are previously unheard of on Linux are also welcome.

I've tested Anjuta and CDT for Eclipse, both are quite good but Anjuta runs markedly faster because, unlike Eclipse, it doesn't run on top of JVM.
