depend on what that account team is working for? are they working for product control (i.e. serving the front office people ) or they doing accouting report for the company. the later is considered as less related to trading and investment activities. you can expect to learn quite a lot of things on the valution side and products (based on your discreption, the prices for different product. notice some derivative pricing could be quite tricky and require certain "expertise"). er, i also expect less pressure for this position than for those working with traders directly. and maybe less excitement also.
i cann't say whether this position will help you or not. becz as someone posted earlier, people switched to trading/frontoffice from all kinds of background. it's not unusual for accountants to move to middleOffice and frontoffice.
