Hiragana is used to represent Japanese native words. Katakana is used to represent foreign words, not Hiragana.

As long as you can pronounce a kanji in Japanese, you can use Hiragana to represent.

Many Japanese words are pronounced the same but mean differently. So their Hiragana is the same. Like the word "hashi", it can mean chopstick or bridge. If you see this hiragana on paper, do you know what is it?
